Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon,
a man who had leprosy.
During supper, a woman came in with
a beautiful jar of expensive perfume.
She broke the seal and poured
the perfume over his head.
(Mark 14:3, NLT)
That jar of expensive perfume was
originally called an alabaster box.
It was a beautiful box which held
precious contents - ointment or perfume
that was worth an entire year's salary.
The woman who poured the perfume on
Jesus' head and withheld none of it for herself;
she gave Him all she had in a simple act of worship.
We can all live lives of worship with
the gifts and talents that God gives us.
Mary's alabaster box was full of expensive perfume.
What is in your alabaster box?
